Inspired by the work of Batchix
and SEGA's adorably-proportioned MMO "Spiral Knights," I decided to do try something new this summer and make, well, a doll. What you see here is the result of a month and a half of planning and fabrication, from screenshot to the real world. he stands 10 inches high and is made from wood, fiberboard, 8/32 threaded rod/screws, and 20# tooling foam - my favorite medium.
This is the first milestone in the actual figure' construction, hopefully soon followed by outfitting with scale armor and equipment from my own in-game character "Cfodder." many hours of research and sketching went into finding what I believe are substantially accurate proportions and anatomy, and similar commitment to authenticity will go into equipment as well. If I can muster sufficient drive to do so, the result by the time I go back to school should be a high-fidelity, fully finished doppelganger of my plucky spiral self.
Those who are new to the concept of Spiral Knights need only look here

Inquisitve makers may find some solace in the progress photos here
I take no credit for the original design of any Spiral Knights property, which is instead credited to SEGA and Three Rings - only inception the construction of this representative figure.
